360 Degree Appraisals: Benefits – Part 1

Here at HRM Network, we always say that doing 360 Degree Appraisals is one of the best business investments you can make. Especially if you do them regularly and with an online software like Best360.

However, in this article we will discuss exactly why we love 360 Degree Appraisals so much.

Even though there are many reasons, these are the most prevalent.

Let’s begin.

Benefits of 360 Degree Appraisals

Structured dialogue

One of the greatest benefits of 360 Appraisals is that they provide a clean-cut structure for you to use. A lot of companies preach that they have an open door policy, or that they promote clear and open communication.

However, you can ask an employee a question like „Am I a good communicator?“.

The answer will probably be something like „Umm, sure.“

You see, general questions get general answers. With 360 Degree Appraisals you are tactically and strategically asking the participants certain questions that will certainly provide you a detailed and useful response. In most appraisals, each competency has about 5 questions. That way you can clearly identify your strength or weakness in a certain competency.

Self Awareness

This process will give you a greater sense of self awareness. You will see how people around you percieve you and your behaviour.

That alone is incredibly important for any person to have, and especially in business. We can sometimes get caught up in our work and in the goals we are trying to achieve, but it is important not to forget about the impression we are leaving on others.

360 Degree Appraisals make sure that doesn’t happen.

Team building

This assessment will improve your working relationships for sure. Performance feedback in companies is almost always given top-down, and you only get one perspective. It can sometimes feel like a one way conversation. This process will promote a reciprocal relationship that will benefit all participants and the working atmosphere.
