Top Manager Skills

Delegation

It is easy to fall into the trap of trying to do everything yourself. While it is true that as a manager you are certainly a highly capable and resourceful individual, it is important to know what your job is, and what it isn’t.

Nobody likes a micro-manager. So please, learn to distinguish which tasks need your immediate attention, and focus on those. Delegate the rest to your team. Have the faith that they will accomplish their job successfully.

Motivation

Being a motivating individual is an important personality trait for any job, but that is most certainly the case with managers and similar leadership roles. It is important to know how to get your employees fired up, excited and enthusiastic. If you know how to do it, they will thank you for it.

Forming Relationships

As a manager, you should know how to bond with someone and inspire loyalty in them. Your work success may depend on it. But bear this in mind, relationships don’t mean friendships. Keep things professional, you don’t want to fall victim to your emotions when it comes to making tough decisions and having to, for example, let someone go.
