360 Assessments: Online vs Offline

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you probably know our position on whether 360 Assessments should be done offline or online.

In almost every article we advise you to seek out online tools like Best360, that do all the work of 360 Assessment for you.

But if you don’t believe us, let’s look at some numbers and then you can decide which option would be better for you.

Should you do 360 Assessments Online or Offline?

First of all, let’s look at it from the time perspective. If you do 360 Assessments offline, you are doing everything in person. That means that a team of 360 experts has to come to your company.

You need to prepare all the questions for the questionnaires. Then you need to notify every participant that in the next week or two, 360 Assessments will be made. After that, you need to physically deliver the surveys to each employee, and after waiting a few days (or sometimes weeks), you need to collect them from every single employee.

A team of experts then analyses the answers and creates feedback reports for every employee. They then come into your company and deliver the feedback personally, one on one.

So simply doing it like this will mean that you will have to wait at least a month and a half to complete a full round of 360 Assessments. If you are interested in how this whole process works, check out this article.

Next, we have to consider the question of practicality. Currently in 2020, there is a global pandemic going on. With all those mandatory regulations it is almost impossible to bring another team into your company. A lot of your employees probably work online during this pandemic anyway. So moving to an online solution seems like a logical step.

And finally, the question of price. For a team to physically come to you and do 360 Assessments, it will cost you thousands of dollars.

But with online tools, everything is automated. An online software sends emails to your employees automatically, as well as reminders. As soon as they submit the survey, the software makes a full feedback report and gives it back to the HR Manager (or anyone else in charge of this process).

This whole process costs only a fraction of the price, and is perfect for this Corona-crisis, when you have to do everything online anyway. If doing an online assessment is what you are looking for, make sure to check out Best360.
