How to work from home (and still get everything done)

Is being able to work from home a danger for your business? Or is it a great opportunity?

The work environment is constantly changing, developing and adjusting according to the times. Especially now, in this Corona-crisis world.

The nature of the workplace environment has changed. Maybe forever.
The biggest thing that shifted is the fact that a lot of businesses realised that they don’t neccessarily need their employees to physically be in the office the whole time.

We don’t know where you are reading this from, but in some countries, there is no option but to work from home. Employees are literally prohibited from working in their regular office. Now, we don’t know how long this situation is going to last. It could be months, it could be years. What we do know for sure is that business has to go on as usual. And for that to happen, we need to make sure that your work productivity doesn’t go down.

We prepared a few tips that will help you get through this, and maximise your working potential, even at home.

How to work from home

Teamwork

A study showed that 20% of remote workers felt a sense of loneliness and a lack of motivation when working from home. That is something that you have to work to prevent. Even though you can’t see your coworkers in person, that doesn’t mean that your communication is doomed. There are still ways to keep in touch and collaborate on projects. Many companies use apps like Slack, Zoom or Skype. But, whatever you do, you have to find a way to keep a great, functioning relationship with your coworkers.

Workspace

When you are at the office, your workspace is already pretty much organised for you. But when you are left on your own, it is very easy to forget about that.

A clean, organised workspace is crucial if you want to do productive work consistently.

Performance evaluations

When people are left unchecked, they usually start regressing. That is a sad truth. The way to prevent that from happening to your employees or your team is to conduct regular performance assessments. This way you will see who is doing great work, and who is falling behind. You will know what to focus on in your communication with your team. And, as a side-note, just the simple fact that you are doing regular assessments will motivate your employees or teammates to be more motivated when doing work from home. A great way to do these assessments is with a software called Best360, that will take all of the hard work away from this process.

Implement these tips as soon as you can and your business will surely benefit.
