The importance of Human Resources Management in Companies

There is something that we need to change.
And that is the reputation of the Human Resources department among employees.

You see, for a lot of employees, the Human Resources department is something to be feared and avoided at all cost. They dread the day when they will receive a call from HR. In their minds, that either means that they will get fired, or that they did something wrong and they are about to be lectured.

And well…they are not wrong in their assumption.

Because a lot of companies use their HR departments for just that. They use them when they hire people, when they fire people, and when an employee does something wrong.

We are here to tell you that that is wrong!
An HR department can be so much more for you, your employees, and your company. If your Human Resources Management is done properly, it can greatly influence the growth and development of your employees, and your company as a whole.

In a well run company, the Human Resources department accomplishes many important tasks, the least of which is firing employees. We will cover those tasks today.

Here at HRM Network, it is our mission to show Human Resources Management in the correct light. To show what an HR department could look like and how it could benefit the company, when it is run properly.

That is why we do what we do, and why we started this community of highly capable HR professionals.

On that note, today we will cover a list of important tasks that well-run Human Resources departments accomplish.

Human Resources tasks in a company

  • Hiring processes – The HR department covers the full talent acquisition system, from finding the right people to hire, hiring them, and finally, retaining them and keeping them happy and satisfied.
  • Employee satisfaction – They are tasked with keeping the employees happy and satisfied and maintaining a high performance and morale level. They do this by keeping the employer-employee relationships good. Also providing a consistent development plan for employees, and regularly gathering feedback, using methods like 360 Degree Feedback.
  • Strategy development – Human Resources directors can often be found on management boards. They offer a unique perspective in strategy planning. HR people contribute the current view and future expectations of people and resource needs and discussions of compensation and training changes.
  • Compliance – HR is tasked with keeping the whole company compliant with all the newest laws and regulations. They constantly have to be up to speed on employee laws, and have to educate managers and owners about them.
  • Training and Employee Development – They are responsible for developing a growth plan for employees and organising different training and educational workshops that the employees need to further develop themselves and their working skills.

There are many more tasks that the Human Resources departments have to fight with every single day. These are just some of the most important ones.

I hope that we motivated you a little, and showed you that an HR department can be a lot more than it sometimes is.
We advise you to invest in your Human Resource departments and develop them to the best of your abilities.

The growth of your company relies on it.
